No. 8 - Manufakturenstrasse
The eighth issue of the OBJECTS magazine titled „Manufakturenstrasse“ is redesigned! The „Deutsche Manufakturenstrasse“ is being launched which gives reason enough to present this brand new project initiated by the Direktorenhaus. The almost 2.300 kilometer long touristic route leads along the best German manufactures across all states. Well-known beyond German borders is the traveling exhibition "Handmade in Germany Worldtour“, which is currently giving a guest performance in China. OBJECTS reports about the encounters of German manufacturers in the „land of smiles“.
The essays of the journal adress fundamental topics like „Handcraft and Design“ (Pascal Johanssen), „Luxury and Anarchy“ (Giacomo Corneo) or „Form, Time und Meaning“ (Hans Zitko), which give updates to the current design-debate. The article „Palmtrees and Voodoo Dolls“ is portraying the Parisian Floraldesigner Stéphane Margolis, who combines traditional Ikebana-techniques with his shrill and yet beautiful aesthetics.
